block scam # app

so we had a magic jack land line for 15 years and they were said to help block out the scam calls but for the last 10 years we had to use an answering machine connected to help screen calls because magic jack just did not ever get that working and our phone only allowed 50 numbers in the blocked list. so we stopped magic jack and now use our cell phones. with magic jack i got most of the scam calls like 50 a day, now with the cell phones the wife is starting to get maybe 20 per day. so far i'm lucky i have not seen them, but i would like to find a good phone scammer app to help screen them all out. we have our banks and dr. and friends and family numbers in our contact list now but she still get calls the do not tell her it is a scam.

so is there a good app that we can install the will just plain block scam calls? i see above that google has something for doing that but i read the thread and it seems i do not see anyway to install that feature.

You don't really need an app for that as it's essentially built into the dialer of your phone:

• Open the Phone app.
• Tap the overflow menu (the three dots) in the upper-right corner and tap Settings.
• Tap Caller ID & spam in the Assistive section.
• Toggle on Filter spam calls to block numbers automatically.

On top of that, if you find a lot of repeat spam calls you can simply block them by long pressing on the number, and choosing Block/report Spam. Then you have the option of reporting it and blocking it.

ok i went to the icon that i tap to answer the call and i did not see any of those in the 3 dot menu so is there a actual app that i'm missing? and i do not have caller id & spam selection on either phone. we do block those calls but it would be better th just have them block automatically.

my phone is the a51 and the wifes is the tcl 20xe

ok i went into both phones and in the block number i turned on block unknown numbers. now that might bite me in the butt if i do not have a person in the contact list, but lets see for now i may have to turn that back off.
