Whole lotta good spending that amount cash on your education did you. You know why you are still unemployed? Looking at your comments right now tells me you have control issues. You are so angry right now all you can think about is "blowing someone's head off" or watching someone kill me. I even have myself a good case of PTSD from 21 months in Iraq and can still get a job. Get your self some meds like me.

You know what jr. Fuck you. I am not worried about you or some slack ass that gets pissed when I tell them they are not trying hard enough. I will wait for you patiently every fucking night 10:00-11:00pm at the Dike entrance in Texas City, TX. You want to threaten me cupcake, you better be ready. Look for the 69 Mustang Coupe, Black, Grabber Orange Boss 302 Decals. I won't kill you, I won't even bring my rifle. If you can actually "blow my head off" you can have the fucker.

I fucking love a challenge, see ya there princess.

Asshat, you got my hands twitching. Now I HAVE to get my Zyprexa refill.

Not to sound like Captain Obvious here but there is one subtle point I think may have been missed. Restaurants, or grocery stores will NOT hire professionals (lawyer in this case). They're stereotyped as being over qualified, and thought of leaving before they can get fully "trained" to do the job hence not worth the effort to the local establishment.

I'm a professional engineer and am NOT above taking a job like that in hard times. But, if I had to tell them my background and work history would you hire me if you were the store manager knowing full well I'd be gone in a heartbeat as soon as there is an opening in my field?

Anythings possible in this world but its probably more likely she'd find a job in her existing professional field. She'd just have to low ball her salary expectations to be competitive, as one approach.

Of course there is the proactive approach of training up in another field while you're actually still employed.

Can't she do some voluntary legal work or something?

I was unemployed for 2 years, and as soon as I started doing voluntary work instead of just sending applications I started getting more interviews.

From what I remember, the statics are that you are 10 times more likely to get a job if you are already "employed" as opposed to unemployed.

It's also kind of funny that no-one is presenting the real issue here; that a job won't cut it nowdays. That's probably because what we're seeing here is evidence of the biggest change this generation is likely to see, and as always, we fear change (because we were taught to in school, but that's a different story...).

I guess because a lot of people here grew up with their parents telling them to "get a safe, secure job with benefits". Basically, our parents were telling us to prepare for a world that no longer exists. My parents did too.

I'm not hating on jobs; all functioning societies need police, doctors, construction workers, etc, and they provide a valuable service (for which I am thankful). A job can also be great for your personal development and mental and spiritual fulfilment. What I am saying is that a job is not a secure financial plan (and all I'm doing there is repeating what rich people have been saying for years).
