boot failure on laptop

I have a LATITUDE E6400 running windows XP sp3 which was working perfectly till recently wen i switched it on it booted up as normal passed DELL splashscreen n thth starting windows screen opens the desktop then nothing no taskbar no desktop icons no start menu nothing just my curser n desktop picture i can enter bios ok, it lets me use f8 but wen i try booting in safe mode with cmd promptcmit loads safe mode but dont show cmd window, start menu or nowt i cant use dvd drive with xp cos drive aint working dont av bootable flash drive and cant figure out how i fix it please, is my night in shineing armor out there come to my rescue i pleed lol

Best thing you can do without any sort of media to repair Windows is to take the drive out and use another system to copy your files from the drive to another system.
