oh god, i hate this error, Did you had Dual Boot OS, like Ubuntu and Windows on the same hd?. So you have already Setup The Boot Order To Usb and changed to UEFI? What Model is your laptop. btw, this is gonna take a while.

This error is like my kryptonite.

I am dealing with this on my desktop as I formatted my SSD and during the Windows installation process I keep getting this error and it's driving me crazy.

You need to get in to the Laptop Bios it should be F10 in compaq laptops, push the power button and press F10 like crazy, when you get to the bios, you should look for BOOT order, that means, booting from the cd drive or usb, there should be 2 options if your laptop has them, to choose between UEFI and Legacy boot type. In your case you should select UEFI and the CD drive or Usb should be in 1st place. that would allow you to read the Windows 7 cd or Usb stick and let you repair your system. Check this video:

at 0:29 he gets the HP window that allows you to get into the Bios of your Motherboard you should be getting that Screen only with the Compaq Logo.

No, it should read the usb or the cd drive, if you put the boot order correctly it should read the Windows 7 CD or USB. Can you post some images from the boot Order on your bios.?
