Bose 15 sound system

I have a bose solo 15 sound system and trying to connect to my TV but get no sound from the box it says I only need one connection is there a on screen menu if I'm connecting via optical cable

The Bose doesn't have video out so no onscreen menu.
If you have the Bose connected to the TV with optical you should be able to select that input on the Bose. Check the TV audio menu to see if you have the option of changing the audio type that goes to the Bose.
The TV volume will not affect the Bose so you may have to turn the volume up on the Bose quite a bit until you hear sound.
