Bose soundbar will not turn on and connect

I purchased a new samsung 6300 series tv. My simple home theatre bose will not turn on and connect through the optic cable that i used on previous tv. the light shines through the cable connections are good. I have unplugged and re plugged with no change. I have adjusted the speakers through the source to be played on the bose system and still can not get sound through them. Any suggestions?

1. Turn the optical output on and internal speakers off in the Samsung TV menu.
2. Check the audio output type in the Samsung TV menu. If you have any choices try them.
