xbox live parental controls keep things like this from happening. too bad the parent didn't have them set correctly. dumb parent.

I see naked people every day, they try to hide it with clothing, but I KNOW. They're not fooling me.

Kids hanging out even virtually with random strangers isn't always the best plan? Who knew?

I'm not sure why this is a big deal...somebody sent pron to the kid, and now that person is likely perma-banned, and if they are in the US, they are going to be prosecuted. Seems like the system works jsut fine to me...The Mom COULD lock down her kids account, but that would require parenting skills.

I knew what sex was and how to have it when I was seven (2nd grade). How? Public schooling... Your children are exposed to a lot worse on the school bus than on x-box live, lol. You don't see petitions to get rid of school buses, do you?

Obviously the mother should socially ostracize the kid, put him in a big plastic bubble and lock him in a padded cell for the rest of his days for his own good... And if he's ever allowed to take showers, he should be forced to keep his underwear on. Those naked bodies are vicious. /s

Also, if all the other guy did was send him porn, he's got a ways to go before he qualifies as a predator in my book. Let us know when he starts trying to meet with the kid or talk him into supplying naked pictures or something, then we can talk.

"When they are playing against their friends, it's a controlled environment," explained mom Rosie Garcia in an interview with San Antonio's News Channel 9. "But when they join a party, it can be someone in Japan, Australia, anywhere in the world."
I like that. Like this shit don't happen if you play games with American's only. Yeah, right! I got news for you lady, I am an American who lives in Japan and we fear the contact our kids have you you all over there.

There was no indication of what the pictures actually contained, however the News Channel 9 report mentioned the word "predator," leaving little to the imagination.
I'm thinking an 8 foot alien with dreadlocks and rack of trophy skulls?

[citation][nom]jalek[/nom]I see naked people every day[/citation]

'I see naked people'
'In your dreams? While you're awake? Naked people like in pictures, in movies?'
'Walking around like regular people. They don't see each other. They only see what they want to see. They don't know they're naked.'
'How often do you see them?'
'ALL THE TIME'

What the hell? I have been on Xbox live since the day the 360 was introduced. I have never gotten porn. What the hell is the kid doing. And why would you let your kid do video chat? I can just imagine how that went. "Okay maam, you xbox is all hooked up to the internet, and I installed the penis cam, I mean Web cam?"

[citation][nom]bobusboy[/nom]How is this news? its just more sensational BS to get media attention.[/citation]

I agree totally. When helping friends with children set up Xbox Live I always caution them about contact with strangers. Primary suggestions are to remove the mic (voice chat) and of course the camera. Both of which can be used to help identify if it is a child on the other end.

Teaching the child not to communicate with a stranger online is the primary way to stop these activities. In this case it sounds like the child gave out his (or his mom's) email address to the guy.

LoL there is a parent out there that thinks their child doesn't look at porn at the age of 10.... HA HA (point finger at stupid parent). Kids are having sex at 12...yep that includes yours. You can't honestly expect your kid to be different than everyone elses. Kids require money, attention, care, love, DISCIPLINE, and a consequence.

The hippy mentality will get your kid locked up in prison for life.

[citation][nom]sliem[/nom]Now it has 130 signatures.[/citation]

That's the count of signatures but check the comments behind them. Many of them are telling the petitioner where to go or are actually in support of porn on Xbox Live.

If Microsoft really wants the feedback they will incorporate some sort of survey into Xbox Live so each signature was a valid Live Gold account.

the signatures on this thing are worth a visit! more signatures making fun of it than truly supporting it.

the second from the most recent (when i looked) was by "huge pedo".

Living in NYC you are exposed to people having sex in public places quite often. In the last 5 years I have happened into situation where I saw a couple having sex in the streets, prostitutes performing fellatio on the subway platform, a man rubbing an erection on an unsuspecting passenger in a crowded train, a fellow masturbating in a library,.... name it. Surely kids see more than I do. My question is what can people do to prevent these events? Nothing. The same applies to the web and technology that allows live viewing, and exchange of images.

It's a fairly simple thing. In order to send a message to someone via XBox live, you have to have an account, which has all your information and is linked/defined as your gamertag. You get a message containing something pornographic, you contact Xbox live support. They ban that gamertag. If you need to provide proof of the pornographic image, well you should have the message sent from them. Forward it or take a picture of your television screen and send that image to XBox Live. They now have proof, they cancle the account, and report the person to the local authorities. BoBusBoy...How is this news? You have young kids playing games, some perv sends them an unsolicted image (Sexual predator). That's how this is news. It happens more often than you'd think. I hate to hit you over the head with the obvious, but an adult who sends these images to children is a predator, and that's illegal. How do you not come to that conclusion?
