Brand New Acer Replacement Battery Won't Work Without Charger

So I have a 4-5 year old Acer Aspire 5749Z, and recently the battery that came with it wouldn't hold a charge longer than 15 mins, and the laptop itself was telling me I needed a new battery. So, I bought this replacement battery

I put the new one in and plugged the charger in and left it charging overnight, the little light that said it was plugged in was on. I get up in the morning, turn it on, it says battery is at 44%, plugged in and not charging. So I unplug the charger and it immediately shuts off. It won't turn on at all unless its plugged in. Not quite sure what to do now. I just blew $50 on this new battery that ain't working.

Any suggestions please???

The newegg page says it has a 30 day money back guarantee ... Exercise it. Then buy a genuine Acer battery.
