Brand new Homtom not responding - dead in box.

Bought a Homtom HT37 Pro which arrived today.
Have taken the tape off the battery and charged it for a couple of hours, but there's no sign of life at all.
Nothing happens whatever I try to do.
Is there a secret switch or something I need to press to get it to work, or have I just wasted my dosh on a duff phone?
Any suggestions?
