Hi people. I completely lost the audio on my ASUS X555L laptop a few weeks ago, I would get no sound from my internal speakers or if i plugged earphones in. When I hover over the volume controls on bottom right of the screen it says 'No audio device installed'.
I took it to a computer repair shop today and they told me the sound card was broken. They also told me this could not be replaced or repaired. They did not however take the laptop apart at any point. I bought a device they recommended which plugs into the USB port of my computer and has a headphone jack on it. It works but its not what I really wanted.
Can anyone recommend anything I should do/buy to get my laptop playing sound on speakers again? Be it the laptop's own speakers or some external ones I can plug into the USB port. I don't like using earphones and prefer listen aloud. I have looked all over the internet and all I can find is what I already have - an external device to plug into USB and then plug earphones into.
