Hello everyone,

Next year I'll go to college and I'll have to buy a new PC because the one I have, despite being still very recent, doesn't have a good battery life.

I love gaming, so I wanted to pick a pc with a GTXm, but I also need great battery life, and I have to say I am really lost here, I cannot find both at the same time.

Do you guys know any PC that could fit into my needs? And if not, which one should I get?

anything with a gtx 960m , will give u 30 fps on triple a games, meidums ettings. also lodading times will be long due the hdd.

have u got a room or something? we can build u a very small desktop pc , which will give u way ebtter peformance.
or do u need to bring it into class than a laptop ofc.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply,

I found a couple of laptops with gtx960m (also found out that gtx 950m is crap, thx Nvidia for refurbishing old stuff and giving it a new name) but the thing is crappy battery life (around 4 hours) in everyday use, and that's more or less what I have now (for instance, this one http://www.amazon.com/Dell-15-6-Inch-Quad-Core-i5-6300HQ-Processor/dp/B015PYYDMQ ).
Concerning the small desktop, I didn't concider the idea and I like it, but the thing is what I like the most with budget pc gaming is that I can play everywhere with them, I can go to my friends' without having to carry a monitor, psu etc.

I'm afraid what I'm searching doesn't exist yet.

Edit : Yes, i'll have to carry it during, sometimes, 6 hours straight without being able to charge it.

I could also buy an external battery and stick with my actual pc, but I wasn't able to find such a thing.

I could, but when I look at my schedule for next year, I have some days where I have from 2pm to 8pm without break, and I don't want my PC to shut down in the middle of something.

That's exactly what I'm seaching : a good compromise, but as I said, I think I'll have to sacrifice performances and get a macbook like that costs half the price

Edit : I selected by mistake "best solution", I didn't mean to, I'm still searching for answers ^^

You can buy for relatively cheap nowadays a large backup battery which you can carry around in your backpack. You may be able to get one to fully recharge a laptop for under $50 these days. Take some time to reserach the mah (milli amp hours) of the laptop battery your going to buy, and then the portable batteries your looking at.
Good Luck

Thanks, but what about mWh?

Im kind of a pleb when it comes to all this, but mWh and mAh likely indicate the same thing? At any rate, if you check your laptop battery its likely between 5 and 15k mAh (could be way off, just guessing based on other batteries I have played with). If the external battery you find is the same or more mAh than the laptop battery you have, you will be able to fully recharge it at least once (in theory, it may not perform up to par which is pretty common, get one with considerably more mAh or just accept that one with exactly the same as your battery will likely only charge it to 70-80% if your lucky IMO. Dont worry about mWh vs mAh, its all measured in mAh or noobs like us so just compare the amps and call it a day :)

Based on my physics knowledge (just kidding, I just googled it 😛 ) mWh can be compared between two batteries with different voltages, mAh can't. But anyway, I'll try that solution. Thanks :)

Gotchya :) I really dont know much about the topic, but I think the fact that these batteries are plugged into your laptop via the cord with inverter (that block on the laptop power cord) the voltages are being adjusted and it goes from AC/DC (or in the case of this battery... from DA to AC back to DC?)
I know so little on the topic I wont say any more lol, Ill let someone with more info answer your questions, good luck I would bet the battery solution is what I would go with in your situation, it will also charge your phone etc.

Thank you, appreciate :)
