Hi
Im looking to buy a phone for my dad. I will need to buy the phone unlocked. he currently has the galaxy j7 but its always lagging and restarting in a loop and is unusable.
Is the new galaxy a line up reliable or should i be looking elsewhere?
he will mostly be using it for calling, whatsapp and facebook and no gaming. he wants something that has good reception and loud speakers!
im looking for a phone that i dont have to change in another 2 years.
i cant buy iphones
thanks

Unlocked or not won't make a difference if it is on a different network. So make sure that the phone you choose will with/work on the carrier/service provider you want to add it to first.

As to loud sounds, most devices have a similar volume. There is no way to know in advance if it will be loud enough for him. If phones aren't then he may want to consider earbuds, speakers, bluetooth, etc. to allow for hearing more. Those can often have an additional volume.

Also, most phones are out of the loop not long after purchasing. I think they kind of want it that way so you do have to get a new one if you want new features. Not my call. So no matter what device you buy you will eventually run into that problem.

Samsung is a good choice. I like most of their devices. The problem he is having may not be about the device though, and may be about something that is on the device. So I would suggest trying to resolve that first. Otherwise you would wind up with the same problem on the new device, if the same things are done with it.

See if it will start up in "Safe Mode" (instructions below). If it will, then he may well have a bad app, virus, malware, etc., on the phone that needs to be removed. If that is the case, or it won't start up in "Safe Mode" either, then I would try a "Hard Reset" (instructions below). Just note that will wipe the device and bring it back to its original state when purchased.

To get into "Safe Mode" please do the following.

1. First turn off the phone.

2. Next press and hold "Power" until you see the manufacturers logo on the screen, then release the power button.

3. "Quickly" press "Volume Down" and hold it for few seconds until you see the message "Safe mode: ON" or something similar.

4. If you wanted disable it, simply repeat the steps above, and you should see "Safe Mode: OFF" rather than on.

About "Hard Resetting"...

NOTE: Doing this will clear 'all' the data on your phone, so it is suggested you not choose this option unless you have to, or aren't worried about losing anything on the device.

Be sure you back up any data you want to keep, to a computer or cloud account, before doing the reset.

To "Hard Reset" the phone...

1. Make sure that the phone is actually powered off.

2. Remove your SD card, if there is one in the device.

3. Press the "Power" and the "Volume Up" buttons, together, until you see the start-up logo on the screen.

4. Once you can see the logo, release the buttons and allow the device to enter the "System Recovery Mode".

5. Next use "Volume Down" button to get to the "wipe data/factory reset" option.

6. When in recovery mode the "Volume Up" and "Volume Down" buttons are how to can navigate and highlight what option you need.

7. Once you have selected the "wipe data/factory reset", press the "Power" button to select that option.

8. On the following screen, repeatedly press the "Volume Down" button until the "Yes - delete all user data" option is what is selected.

9. Then press the "Power" button to hard reset the phone.

10. If you took your SD card out in step 2, when the device is up and running again, reinsert the SD card.

I would recommend you to go with A50 because A30 has low ram of 4gb whereas now a days minumum 6gb ram is required so you can use it for a long time.

Hi ,

You should buy the Xiaomi Redmi 7A , this phone has a good speed reaching up to 2.0 Ghz which is a huge upgrade from the J7 speed which is only 1.4GHz.

Another benefit is the reception and sound as it has a built in antenna and allows you to have noise cancellation aswell.

It is going for a reasonable price of £72-79.
