Hello, I was searching the web for a new laptop, as my old laptop is starting to have problems. (Right after the 3 year warranty expired, too! :pfff: ) I stumbled upon this while looking through Newegg - it's a new listing, as it wasn't there yesterday.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834215551

Acer Aspire V3-551G-7696 - $459.99

15.6" 1366x768
AMD A6-4400M 2.7Ghz
4GB DDR3
Radeon HD7670M 1GB (GDDR3/5? Unspecified on both Newegg and Acer's site.)
500GB 5400rpm
5.7 lbs

I preferably want a machine which can at least handle modern games ~ medium quality. The most graphically demanding games I own are F.E.A.R. 3, Far Cry 2, Supreme Commander, SW:ToR and Shogun 2. Would the A6 and 7670 be up to the task of running these on max at acceptable frame-rates?

Also, how much of a performance increase could I expect from the Acer compared with my current laptop? It's an MSI-EX625 w/Core 2 Duo P7350 2.0Ghz, 4GB DDR2, Radeon HD4670 512MB GDDR3.

Any advice/thoughts about this laptop would be greatly appreciated!

My budget is about $600-700. I was just curious as to how the A6/7670 would be expected to perform, especially for a sub-$500 laptop. I'm flexible when it comes to CPU/GPU brands, as long as it'll net me the best performance. I generally prefer Asus/MSI/Toshiba/Lenovo, but for the right deal, I'll go with almost any brand. Got any recommendations within my preferred budget?

The Acer 7750 is discontinued. :( Otherwise, I would have strongly considered that one.

Hm...the HP's are tempting, but I have had several friends who have had warranty problems with their HP's. It seems the HP warranty is designed to screw you over nowadays, at least that's the impression I'm getting.
