Buying Android phone overseas

Hello people, was wondering if I pick up an Android handset in France to take back to the UK, will it be identical to ones purchased here when the language is changed to English?

The phone will obviously be the same if you buy an international model but your baseband may be different. You can change your baseband version to the one used in your area easily.

Does anyone know what baseband I'd need to set it to in the UK? And is that just in the general phone settings?
