I recently acquired a peaceful graveyard shift and need to find a way to make the time go by. I'm interested in buying a gaming laptop of near performance, if not better than that of my desktop. I understand that numbers don't exactly matchup with desktops and laptops, so that's why I am here.

My desktop has a i5-4670 and a 770 GTX. I'd hope I would be able to match this performance or better with a budget of $1000-1500, but would be willing to spend as much as $2000 if I had to. 15.6 or 17.3 are both good size I think, I would hope to have windows 7 on it, but I guess I could always clean out 8 if that's on there. I'm hoping to get an idea, and find a good deal before the end of November. Any advice is appreciated!

Can anyone else weigh in on this? Sorry about double post last night, internet must have been acting up. I know that the high end i5 is all I needed on my desktop, and the i7 was overkill, does this aspect change with laptops? Also I'm questionable about getting 15.6 or 17.3... 17.3 can get bulky but is it worth having the extra screen space?

Is there a 17 inch with the same specs as this?

My laptop is 15.6 inch and i am pleased . Just want to mention , if you want gaming , you need Core i5/i3 + Geforce 840M at least . There was an Asus with i5 and Geforce 840M for $700 but now is out of stock .

Alienware is made by Dell, You end up paying somewhere from $300-$600 extra dollars for a brand name, that you could get a 144hz monitor, a second 120hz monitor for streaming, or a mechanical keyboard, gaming mouse by steelseries, or something real nice such as an upgrade like a SSD by Samsung, which they make the best reviewed Solid State Drives. But if you're going to go with a Gaming Laptop, I would suggest building one, or going with a pre built one with a i7 inter CPU, Quad-Core, 8gb or more of RAM, Stick with Windows 7 64-bit for Gaming, and go with a SSD Hard Drive, and some extras like extra fans for over heating problems, Laptops + Gaming = Over Heating Issues, but getting the right Gaming Equipment which Cooler Masters makes great fans and coolers, you will have a epic build, or laptop.

it s new . Get the Asus . it has separate fan for the CPU and the GPU but the MSI has only one fan ! i checked this .

MSI is a good brand for gaming notebooks - I personally am using the GT60 2OD w/ a 3K IPS - I have had 3 MSI notebooks and have been more than happy with all of them. I already know that my next upgrade will be to another MSI notebook

I think I'm going to have to go with the Asus one since its the same price for...

~ 16 GB Ram (Not that I would need more than 8)
~ Has 2 fans 1 for each the CPU and GPU
~ Warranty is 1 Year Accidental Damage / 30-Day Zero Bright Dot
~ ASUS is a better company
~ So new its not even out yet
~ Its thinner and slightly lighter
~ Case looks cooler

Sadly I have to wait until November 4th before its out... atleast that will give me time to make sure this is the one I want. Anyone else find anything better priced than this?

(Not a solution)

Just want to keep this thread going. My budget is preferably more towards $1000, over $1500, but you pay what you get for. So hoping for more options (That ASUS does look tasty though).
