Can I copy the windows 7 OS off of my old laptop and putt it on my other laptop.? Is that legal?
I have a gateway with windows 7 ultimate on it. I have purchased a dell with xp on it. I want to put my windows 7 ultimate on the dell. Is that possible

No. Your Windows 7 OS on your old laptop is tied to that system and cannot be transferred. If your Dell system supports Windows 7, you'd need to purchase a new Windows license for it.

No, it isn't.

1. It won't boot. At all.
2. That Gateway license is almost certainly OEM. And as such, is licensed to that Gateway motherboard and will not activate on a different laptop.
