Can i get around a password that i don't remember

My Acer notebook has windows starter on it. it asks for a password that i don't know what it is and it won't let me reset it. Is there anyway i can get around the password?

Just a ?, and none of my business but is this a bootleg copy of windows?. if you know how, go into windows through safemode and can go back and modify your administrator stuff

Yes, format the HD and reinstall windows.
