Can i use a subwoofer with built in amp on my computer?

Ask the title says it. If i buy a subwoofer with built in amp, can I hook it up to my computer? My monitor has built in speakers, do I need to buy some other speakers too?

If the woofer in question has an input the same as one of your sound interface's outputs, then most probably yes, you can.

What's the hardware you have and what is the subwoofer you intend to buy?

Yes,in fact you need to use a subwoofer with an amp for a computer as it cannot drive an unpowered sub.

Yes you can. You can use the monitor speakers but they will leave something to be desired in the long run. If you listen to music and movies you will want a real 2.1 speaker system eventually.

its probably to much of a hassle, so I better by some pc speakers instead ^^ though is 200 watt much?
