Can I use my TCL Roku TV as a second monitor for my laptop?

Ok so I have a TCL Roku TV and I want to extend my display so that the TV is used as a second monitor. When I connect the HDMI cord It mirrors the laptop screen just fine, but it wont discover the tv so I could use each with different things on them. How do I get the Laptop to discover the TV?

You can see the laptop screen on the TV so it's working. If you want different things on them then set the video options to expanded not duplicated.

When I try to extend it gives the option to detect, but does not detect the tv.

But it works fine when it's duplicated? That is strange. Check for newer video drivers for your computer see if that helps.
