Can't connect to wifi

When I'm out and about ie in asda today where there's free wifi, I go into settings on my smartphone, click connect and yes it is ticked. Then I go to use Facebook or Google and both do not work. States there's no internet connection or an error loading news feed. Anyone got any ideas??!! Thanks it's driving me mad.

Normally with many free wifi you need to bring up your internet browser after connecting and go thru an agreement process. Often to get this agreement screen you have to actually try to visit a different webpage than the one your browser is displaying (that one is from your cache)

Free Wifi has some restriction, you need to act on there SLA - Service Level Agreement. And once agreed then you can use the internet thru that wifi
