I cant get windows 8 to load. when i start my computer it goes straight to the BIOS screen. i have tried everything I can think of and have followed a few different threads i have found but have not figured out any solution. I have an ASUS x551m laptop with windows 8 as an operating system. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Solution
remove main battery from laptop, disconnect power adapter from laptop, hold the power button down for a 20 count, re-install main battery, reconnect power adapter to laptop & turn on the laptop.
Is there a 'Launch CSM' option in your bios? if so try adjusting enabling or disabling it. This option will only able to be changed when secure boot is set to disabled.

there is, but when i enable it and try, the screen goes black with "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key". when i get back to the BIOS screen with the f12 command, there is a new boot option, it says [P1: MATSHITADVD-RAM...].

the reason I asked because there is a battery not the main one that provides power to the cmos chip so if the battery starts dying the time then date goes out of whack.

remove main battery from laptop, disconnect power adapter from laptop, hold the power button down for a 20 count, re-install main battery, reconnect power adapter to laptop & turn on the laptop.
