Can't open any files on Acer aspire laptop

I have an Acer aspire 5810T laptop the screen is black and I cannot open any files

Was the screen always "black"?
Do you see anything on the screen when you power-up your laptop?
Do you hear any fans moving?
When you press five times in a row <Shift> key, do you hear a click?
