Cat5e to HDMI?

I just got a TCL ROKU TV from Amazon.com. I have broadband internet service and I use a Cat5e to connect to my laptop ethernet port. Now I want to directly connect the Cat5e to my new TV, but there is no ethernet port, just HDMI ports. What can I do to connect without having to go buy a router?

HDMI does indeed support Ethernet, however, if you need to make sure in the specs if that TV supports ethernet over HDMI, because most HDMI devices don't. If not, then your only option is to use wifi.

According to the owner manual TCL expects you to use WiFi not a wired connection. Kind of stupid since a wired connection would be superior.
