I have an ASUS ROG G74SX-BBK7 machine running Windows 7 Home Premium.
My issue is hardware related: as the title states, the charging pin gets incredibly hot while inserted. I'm thinking of buying a new battery (the machine runs perfectly fine without one inside) then going for a new charger and then a DC jack if those two don't work. I also used a paper towel with rubbing alcohol to clean out the DC jack earlier today, when this issue started happening.
I'd hate to crack open the laptop and replace the DC jack, but want to see if there's anything I can do before shelling out 100 USD or so for aftermarket parts and repairs.
