Chillblast Behemoth or Alienware 18?

Basically, I am a student in the UK who is looking for a gaming laptop, as my current one is getting on with age. Just in-case someone asks, yes it must be a laptop, as a student I need to be mobile and can't waste room on a tower, and I know I will be paying a huge premium for that. I want to buy top of the range so that it will last me plenty of years. But I've hit a kind of impasse, two laptops seem to be amazing and it's really between the two.

I just need to know which one ends up as being better for gaming, namely if the better cards on the Behemoth are worth the extra money. And how long you think each machine would last me, before games get too advanced to run on these machines?

Thanks in advance for any answers, I'm placing my trust in you guys.

Note: I already have a laptop to be used for University work and such, so battery life means little to me.

1) The Chillblast Behemoth (£3849.00): http://www.chillblast.com/Chillblast-Behemoth-17-GTX-880M-SLI-Six-Cored-Gaming-Laptop.html
2) Alienware 18 (Around £2700): http://m.dell.com/mt/www.dell.com/uk/p/alienware-18/pd?fl=m&un_jtt_v_MPLP=yes&fl=m&un_jtt_redirect

For what it's worth, I'm a university student as well and am perfectly happy with an ultra-mobile desktop plus a chromebook for classes.

You can build a desktop that can just slip into your backpack, or if even that isn't good enough, buy something like a Falcon NW Tiki, which is incredibly small and way, way, way more powerful than any laptop.

Seriously, especially since you've already got a laptop for schoolwork, it seems really silly to go with a desktop replacement laptop to take home very slightly easier than a gaming desktop that can be as small as two liters.

That being said, between the two laptops, go with the Behemoth. It's not Alienware, so it doesn't sacrifice build quality for shiny lights, nor does it come with a bunch of pre-loaded bloatware. It's got significantly better power, and from what I've read, has a better screen.

Just don't kid yourself; you'll be spending £3850.00 for a gaming rig that you CAN'T UPGRADE when it's not top of the line anymore and that could be beaten by a miniature desktop that could be upgraded and would be a LOT quieter and just as portable... for less than half the price.

EDIT: Not to mention that the gaming desktop could use a 1440p screen for insane visuals or a 120+ Hz screen to make games ridiculously smooth and make you feel like you were cheating in FPS's. (Or the ROG swift to get both, plus G-sync on top of it.)

Well, the chillblast model obviously has the better specs, it's up to you if you think the boost will be worth the extra 1000 GBP. I think it's massive overkill, but hey whatever works for you. I've just never heard of the brand before.

If I had the money? I'd probably buy something else to be honest. The MSI GT70 looks very nice, has the a six-core processor that's just under the chillblast (better than the alienware), a single 880M (I don't like SLI, hate micro-stutters), and is roughly the same price as the Alienware at 2692GBP: http://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-Dominator-4930MX-EXTREME-Windows/dp/B00JM8A6JG/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=undefined&sr=1-1&keywords=msi+17+dominator+pro

Seems like a much better choice to me, I'm not paying a 1000 premium and it'll be useful just as long.

I would normally recommend the Asus ROG line too, but those haven't been updated with the latest tech recently.

First, Don't judge laptop vs pc power by 7 or 8 years ago stastics, if the relationship was 2$pc/perfp=$notebook/perfn when perfn and perfp were equal, that's not the case anymore. There's still a price difference but it isn't that big anymore (unless you buy from Alienwarer or Razer)

Second, I agree with the comments, neither a 5k$ laptop nor a desktop pc is worth it, you could go well with an 880m which is around 1.7k$ and 2k$ and if you still want to spend that money, you can do it years later when your current system is not worth a penny and you can buy the latest system

^ I'm not. A 880M is going to perform more like a 750ti, maybe about 760 level. Two of those, including all the issues that SLI on a laptop has, are going to be handily beat by a much cheaper solution. Telling me off for saying that notebooks are twice as expensive as equally performing desktops is kind of silly - but if you prefer, then sure, it'll get beaten by a desktop that's 2/3rds of the price... and can still be upgraded when the laptop can't. And has way way better cooling, meaning it doesn't sound like a hair dryer on full blast when playing games.

Yes but we're talking about 1080p gaming, where anything more powerful than an 880M is providing extremely diminishing returns. Unless the OP plans to use a multi-monitor setup while gaming, it's kind of pointless to go bigger.
