Clevo or...?

Hey all, im seriously contemplating buying a Clevo x7200 Laptop from AVADirect because, so far as i can tell, only they offer the "good stuff" for the laptop like 1200P resolution, Dual GTX 470's, Desktop i7 cpu, exc. The issue here is the Clevo is so PLAIN looking. it couldnt look more Dull if it tried. When i spend about $3K on a gaming laptop i would like it to look like one. Id like it to look sleek and glow, exc. The reason im not choosing the ones i linked is becuase they dont offer what im looking for above. Thank you for your replies!

So, i guess my question is, are their any manufacturers out there that will give me the SAME performance or better with more aesthetically pleasing computers?
(please don't post things like "why you need so much power?", thats just annoying)

The only non-boutique laptop like that I can think of is Alienware M17x. For fanciness, you could try checking out sellers like Falcon Northwest.

Also, XoticPC allows you to have custom skins (your designs if you want, although they have a large gallery) on the laptop lid, and around the keyboard. You could try getting a Clevo printed like that.

One of your criteria is a desktop i7 processor. You should know that Clevo and their derivatives are the only laptops that offer that specific feature. No one else does. You would have to settle for a mobile Sandy Bridge processor otherwise. Also, consider the new AMD Radeon mobility 6970's. They are very capable cards.

Origin PC was founded by ex-founders of Alienware in 2009.

You will get a very high end clevo X7200, customized any way you like it, with customized paint job. The blue lights on the back of the Eurocom x7200 might also be on your AVA direct system, I would ask them - it looks like they took pics of it with the power off... also, Malibal offers an X7200 with the blue lighting on the back of the X7200.

If you are looking for a lighted case and backlit keyboard, you may have to sacrifice some power and go with an Asus G73 variant (check Xotic PC for lighting options).

Current Alienware m17x series no longer offer SLI cards and really that takes them out of the "high end" gaming laptop market IMO - despite their cool lights.

Thanks for the link. I looked at a customized EON15-S from origin pc and it seemed to be about 400 bucks more than the Sager 8150 at xotic pc. As far as I know they are both built on a Clevo platform and all the other components are the same. Do you know if Origin does price matching?

I have no idea if they do price matching - I suggested their site because you were looking for something more custom in appearance.

The best sites I've seen so far for laptops are Malibal, AVA direct, Xotic PC and Origin. I'm sure there are other good ones out there, these are just the ones that seem to offer the best customer service along with a high quality product.

Hey thanks everyone. I went ahead and ordered a Clevo x7200 from Malibal. They offer the best pricing hands down, plus they work with you. If you have a part already and dont want it on the laptop, ( i already had a laptop HDD) they will remove it from the configuration to save u $. I ened up getting SLI 485's
PS: the x7200 is and nvr was 1200P, my fault, sorry. Also, on many of the configurators u can SELECT 1600mhz ram, but the rep at Malibal said the mobo dosnt support it, so ya, ull get 1600mhz but be downclocked to 1066 unless u order the i7-990, then u get 1333mhz...what a cheap ass business tactic.

Nice man. I would love to see what kind of Frames Per Second you get on that system with max settings/1920x1080 on games like Crysis or Metro 2033 - those are typically FPS killers on Ultra settings unless you have an SLI set up.
