CLosed Laptop and now nothing but blank screen

I have an Acer Aspire M5. I closed the lid and the next time i opened it the screen would display only a blank black screen. I have restarted the computer but do not even see the boot screen. Any ideas on what could help?

Sounds like the ribbon cable that connects the screen to the system got pinched one too many times.
Opening the lid and the case to see the cable in it's entirety could solve the mystery.

Have you opened the laptop and turned it on?
