Solution hang-the-9 Sep 20, 2018 SATA drives should only have one type of connection, they are even the same between laptop and desktop drives. What you may be looking at is the caddy the laptop may have to hold the drive, at times they have a different connection to the motherboard. Just get a normal SATA to USB cable. I suggest a USB 3 enclosure, the added copy speed is nice if you have a system with USB 3 to use it with. I bought a few of these and they are pretty good quality, considering how cheap they are https/www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M08LCXW/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And any other specs listed on the drive. That way you can be certain about the needed connection cable. Upvote 0 Downvote
