comparing these laptops

Hi ya all

Been looking for a new laptop to replace my (finally dying) 8ysh years old acer aspire.
Always tried to find most med priced laps every now and then and been playing on consoles. But now i found this originally 999€ acer lowered to 799€ which made me wonder could it finally be able to come home with me and maybe last for the next 8ysh years for retro-nowadays gaming.

That gtx 850M 4GT made me think if i were able to find any better laps from Finland with maybe better or so specs. Hours of comparing sites and prices later i did find some but now i'm not sure which one might be the best for buying. Everyone has a little better i5s but then lower graphics card Gt and i cant calculate how much the difference would make in overall performance.

I also tried to find some same pricy ones with i7 but they all seemed to have only up to Geforce 850-950m (not GTX) and none of this price cards have sddr5 or what the new and better memory is.

I'm sure this will give people a big headache but if someone could light me up or have any good advice with my dilemma i would really appreciate it, or if i should just not buy any at all and wait for price drops for sddr5 ones

Alright so this one is the best in terms of performance overall:

As the GPU is a little better (not much), and the CPU isn't too bad.

And the other two are roughly the same. Although these systems are so close together in terms of performance, you are probably best to decide between them based on price, RAM, and storage. For example, only the Acer has an SSD, which will boot faster than the others and make things load faster. That is nice, but if you have a lot of files you need to store, the other systems would be a better choice. Based on which you want more before a fast boot time and more storage space, decide if you want the Acer, and if you want more storage space then lets mark that one out.

If you purely want the most storage you can have, then pick between the two listed above on terms of price, performance, and RAM. Not sure how much a Euro is, as I'm in the USA, but the cheaper of those two probably has the most to offer in terms of price/performance ratio. Only have 6 GB of RAM is a bit of a draw back, but you can upgrade the RAM for not much money.

Yeah bying that 900€ one for better GPU for 220€ more than that other one seems a little too much. But comparing that cheaper one to Acer, does that better CPU then win over that better 4Gt GPU that Acer has? The storage does not interest me much as novadays i dont really store much of anything to my lap.

Well see, they all have essentially the same GPU actually. Physically they are identical in every detail.The only difference between the GTX 950 and the GTX 850 is one has slightly higher clock speed, which helps it perform better, but isn't going to make a big difference.

Interesting you call the vRAM on the graphics card Gt btw. We call it GB here for Gigabyte or Gb for Gigabit, so I'm going to use that to make sure I am correct with what I am saying, as I am not familiar with Gt. No offense, because I see that is how everyone including those sites spells it, just I am not sure if Gt means Gigabyte or Gigabit.

Anyways the Acer has 4 GB of vRAM I think on the GPU, but it really doesn't matter. You see the vRAM can help prevent performance from dropping in some situations. For example, if you are playing a game and only 1 GB of vRAM is used, then the 4 GB and 2 GB GTX 850 GPUs will perform exactly the same. The 4 GB GTX 850 will only perform faster if you are running a game that needs more than 2 GB of vRAM, but it is extremely unlikely you will. The reason you likely won't, is because to push a game to use more than 2 GB of vRAM you either need to be running at resolutions above 1080p, or have AA maxed out or turned up very high on a game running at 1080p. Many modern games will use more than 2 GB of vRAM under these conditions, but the stress of running games at these speed on a GTX 850 (regardless of vRAM) would drop your FPS significantly below 30 FPS, and the game wouldn't be playable.

Long story short, more vRAM is helpful, but only on a high-end graphics card like a GTX 970 or GTX 980 which can handle ultra higher resolutions and settings. On mid-range and lower graphics cards like the GTX 850, it won't make a difference.

I got so hooked to that 4 GB card on Acer because i didn't find many other ones with that but now that i know its not going to matter to me with this price laptops it helps me a ton. I'll do a little more fishing if i might find one with that SSD hard drive, otherwise i go with the cheaper Asus and upgrade the RAM with the extra money. Maybe i can find a SSD hard drive to that too.
