Connect a lap top to a Yamaha 3040 AVR

How would i go about connecting my laptop to my 3040 and have Video and audio? can it be done via wireless and have 5.1 sound and HD video

You would use the HDMI output of your laptop. If you wanted to go wireless you could use a wireless HDMI set up.
You might also be able to use a Google Chromecast.

I was trying to see if the Yamaha would work with my computer as both ar eon my wireless router and my computer has the 3040 ar a recognized device. I understand the HDMI approach, but just seeing if someone else has goen wireless to view movies.
