Current setup is a Sharp Smart TV and Bose Soundbar. Soundbar is connected via Optical cable. All is good. Now I want to connect RF wireless headphones. I want to be able to keep the headphones RF receiver plugged in and and still have soundbar working, then manually mute the soundbar when I turn on the headphones. I have tried to connect RF Receiver to headphone jack on tv = headphones work but then no sound from sound bar. I have tried an RCA cable converter on the RF Receiver, and plugged it into the red and white connections on the TV = soundbar works but not the headphones. I have tried plugging the RF receiver into the AUX port on the soundbar = soundbar works but not the headphones. It's a pain to have to connect the RF receiver to the tv headphone jack every time I want to use the headphones.

Solution
There are two option.
  1. A tech could probably modify the headphone jack so it doesn't turn off the soundbar.
  2. Split the optical output of the TV.

Connect the soundbar to one output.
Connect an optical to analog converter to the other output.

Connect the RF transmitter to the converter.
You may need to change the TV output to PCM stereo for the converter to work unless you get one that will accept a bitstream 5.1 input. Check the TV audio menu to make sure that that is available.

Thank you so much for the quick reply! I have ordered the Monoprice S/PDIF (Toslink) Digital Optical Audio Splitter and will let you know if it works. Thanks again!
