Wrong converter. That converts HDMI to AV.
You need an optical to analog audio converter. Check the TV audio menu. If you can't set the TV to PCM stereo you need one that accepts 5.1 digital audio.
Check the TV manual on how to turn on and use the optical output. You may have to turn the TV speakers off.
