connect laptop to sound bar

How/what do I need to feed audio from my HP Pavilion laptop to my sound bar?. The sound bar has 2 optical ports. One is hooked to the TV and the other is available. My laptop has no optical port. Thanks

Are you using HDMI to output video? You can get an optical splitter which will provide an optical output with an HDMI pass through.

If using an HDMI splitter won't work then you can use a ADC like this one

to convert the headphone out to optical.

No, I am not using HDMI to output video. I"m not much of a techie but these seem like two good solutions so with a little research on my part, I think I can use one of the options. Thanks!
