Connect my soundbar to TV without optical cord

I have a Sony smart TV and a vizio soundbar with bluetooth capabilities but the person i got it from lost the optical cord. Do it need to buy one or can i somehow connect it without it?

if the tv has bluetooth...go into the menu click on bluetooth and click connect. when there paired the tv sound should come through the sound bar.

I would just get an optical cable. More reliable that bluetooth and may sound better.
