Connect Panasonic TV to Yamaha Surround system

Is it possible for me to hook my panasonic tv (model TC-L32C5) up to play through my Yamaha surround sound system (model HTR-5540). If this is possible how would I do it?

Yes, You will need an Digital Audio Coax cable to go from the Digital Audio Output of the TV to the Digital "CD" input of the Receiver.
You'll need to select the "CD" input when playing through the Receiver.

Will a normal rca cord work for this or does it have to be a digital audio coax cable?

Well for the best sound output you should use optical or HDMI audio out. You could use mini plug to stereo rca but that would only give you analog stereo out.
