Connect with hdmi both end laptop and projector but it shows no signal

I have hdmi port in my laptop and my new bought projector but when i connect them projector screen appears no signal... Acer Aspire 4741 I5... what should i do? Please advice. Thank you

Usually on a laptop, you hold down the function key (Fn) and press the F8 key to cycle thru displays.
