connecting sony home theatre to a samsung tv

hi,
i have a samsung tv le40rbd, and i am trying to connect a sony home theatre system via digital optical cable, but i am not getting the tv audio on the home theatre. please advise

It sounds like you have the TV and HTiB connected properly. Make sure that you have the optical input selected on the HTiB. Also go into the TV audio menu and see if there are any choices for type of output such as pcm or Dolby. Try selecting a different one. Your HTiB may not be compatible from the audio type that is selected.
