connecting wires to an aux cord

i have a subwoofer for a stereo and i need to connect the wires to an aux plug. the wire colors are purple and black.

If the RCA output you want to connect the sub to is not a powered output (this would usually have a speaker wire connection) then just putting a connector would not work unless your sub is self powered (has a power cord). You would need an sub amp otherwise.
