Just curious...what are other Core i7 720 laptop owners getting for their CPU score in Windows 7 Experience Index? I just got a new HP dv6t and my CPU score is 6.2. I was expecting higher for some reason, although I don't really know. My desktop computer is a Q9450 overclocked to 3.4 GHz. Its index is 7.4. Even though the 720 is only 1.6 GHz, I figured the hyperthreading, turbo boost, and newer technology would have it up around 7. Is my value normal...it's been a while since I had a laptop. Is this just the typical laptop performance being behind desktop performance even with new technology?

Hi

I'm running the Q720 in a Dell Studio 15. My windows experience index is 4.7 with the processor being the lowest score. Can you give me an idea of what settings you changed to try and improve the score?

Thanks

Ben

try turning off your hyperthreading i have sometimes found that disabling it gives it a better score unknown why but give it a go, also apparently i7 processor also work alot better when more than 1 gpu card is present, that is one reason why they were developed the way they are, one other thing i understand but i have a q6600 overclocked to 3ghz which scores 7.2 in a P35 Chipset motherboard but 6 in a P45 chipset motherboard again for no reason, just a few things to consider.

U need to adjust ur bios. intel's Speedstep has been disabled, n w/ that the cpu is down throttled to 133 x 7. W/ it enabled it will usually run on around x 13. Turbo mode will push it up 2 x 21! then just re-run the windows experience index.

I have a Thinkpad W510 and with a 90W power supply I get a 4.6 CPU WPI , from what I read , the W510 (Core i7 QM 720) should run on 135W power.

What is your power suppl W ?
