how do you recover your sata controller driver and insert it when you have no windows access?

More information would be helpful. depending on whats going on you maybe able to boot to the os disc load the driver from a usb key and run a startup repair.

I have a sony viao notebook w/ a phoenix bios .its gone w/o power so long i believe its lost its sata controller. When it boots all it says is os not found ,it doesnt detect the hard drive, although it will detect a flash drive when inserted. It detects dvd drive.I keep discounting the idea of the hard drive being bad because the comp is in a brand new state.so I think ive lost my sata controller driver .but I'm self taught so my knowledge may be whats corrupt lol

Hi :)

Run a hard drive test in DOS... HIRENS BOOT CD etc, it sounds like a failing hard drive... do NOT do this if you have an SSD...

All the best Brett :)

Enter the bios and see if the HDD is detected there. Being without power for a long time wont do anything to the sata driver in the OS. The bios would have lost its settings and went back to default so you may need to change the sata operation from AHCI to IDE if the OS didnt have the AHCI drivers installed.
