CPU or GPU

I want to buy a new laptop that I can bring to school but I am also a gamer and want to play all of the latest games on it. I have here 2 laptops and I dont know which one to choose.
First one:
I7 8750H
GTX 1060 6gb
8gb ddr4

The other:
I5 7300HQ
GTX 1070 8gb
16gb ddr4

I dont know if I should go for the one with the better CPU or the one with the better GPU and ram. Can someone help me choose

What games are you playing and what screen resolutions do those laptops have?

Both laptops are 1080p and i plan on playing games like battlefield v and black ops 4. I currently play overwatch and anything really.

I would go for the i5/1070 laptop. It has beefier specs albeit the processor. However, that i5 is overclockable so you can push out extra performance

modern core i processors are pretty powerfull so in general stepping down cpu for a better gpu will not have any adverse effect but better framerated

For the reason mentioned above 9 times out of 10 you want to better GPU. This is on of those times. Grab the 1070.

The one with 8GB ram will handle most games, but some (e.g., Star Citizen) will want 16GB ram. Even if you ignore that one with the 1070 having the better GPU the I5 will still be able to run things requiring more ram. Can you get the one with the 1060 GPU with 16GB ram?
