That sounds like it could be a bit of a pain to use, depending on how accurately it can sense the approaching object. i foresee many the miss-click.

TrueTouch technology involves not touching? Lol... sorry couldn't resist.

Anyway +1 above. I'll miss clicking.... It won't be as precise.

"There is the slight issue of Apple patenting something similar back in January but there's no telling if Apple will take action against Cypress."

You are kidding me right? I bet you are being half nice and half sarcastic cause we all know better when it comes to this and Apple its a one way street.

Will be interesting also to try out personally this kind of screen. Will be either really cool or useless so I rather try out myself.

The point isn't necessarily that you don't have to touch your screen (although that would be fun to try using it that way). The point is that the touchscreen interface can anticipate where you finger is before you actually make contact and therefore be more responsive and enable more touch features.

[citation][nom]gtvr[/nom]People will touch it anyways. I can't get people to NOT touch my monitor and leave fingerprints.[/citation]

My biggest pet peeve. Worse when a person with a tech background does it. A VOIP tech was at my workstation one afternoon assisting me in setting up my voicemail. He reaches over to point at something and drags his finger across the screen. Took all my restraint to keep from smacking him.

Couldn't you just shout: "Do not touch!" :)

You can maybe try with a big sins: "Do not touch my monitor!", "Please, Do not TOUCH!", "Touch the monitor - loose a finger!"
"Touching forbidden!"

or: "I am not responsible for what happens to your face after you touch this screen!"

Don't know if you guys know this or not, and the technology may be unrelated, but Wacom tablets have had the same feature for a decade. It makes drawing and painting much more natural. In fact, their Cintiq product line is essentially a flatscreen monitor you hold in your lap will you draw. The tablets can sense pressure, angle, speed, what type of tip you're using... Anyway, it's as close to drawing with natural media you can get. That all said, I don't think anyone is going to be doing any digital painting on their cell phone.
