Question Dashcams' Can they really get the plate?

I've got a Nextbase 322GW and after the passenger window of my Corvette was smashed in in a lighted parking lot I checked and It's there. But even though the truck is only one foot from my car as it pulls away slowly I still can't get the plate to be clear enough to read it. I've asked Nextbase for help and they say they can't get it either. I gave it to the local police in hopes they had the software to clear it up but haven't heard a word from them. I've tried all that I can find online but nothing seems to get it.

All depends on the angle, speed, distance, lighting, and the camera in question.

Some can, some can't.
