Defective Graphics ?

Hello people, today I got a HP Pavilion dv7 notebook from Micro Center that has AMD 6770 Graphics. i installed the Skyrim and tried to change the Graphics adapter from Intel HD graphics to 6770 But the problem is its not there!!! then i downloaded the CPUz, in CPU-Z garphics tab it only shows Intel Graphics and a Graphic device but it doesn't show that Graphic device is AMD 6770 or what ???
There is no signs of the 6770 !! it is in the device manager but i can't use it! also i can't install the Catalyst_mobility driver for it !!! it says it cant be downloaded due to incompatible Hardware software on the computer!
Well, you think its a defective notebook ?

dv7 is the family model. a more specific laptop model would be nice.(DV7 would be like saying acer aspire, as it gets almost no where because theres a bajillion versions of acer aspires)

i also disabled the intel Graphics to push it to use the 6770 but after i restarted the laptop when i check the device manager, the radeon 6770 Status is this : Windows has stopped this device because it has reported Problems . (code 43)

pressed F1 for sysinfo.. i see no signs of the card, also nothing in setup. its just in the device manager.

yeah but the problem is they only had 1 of this, and i really like it, just want to make sure if there is no way to fix and its really defective then ill go on and return it.

I downloaded installed this driver for 3rd time but got the same result didn't work. actually the ATI Catalyst works but i cant use the card for Skyrim or 3Dmark. its only using the intel graphics

did you uninstall it first before installed the driver? Other than that try remove it from the device manager and reboot to see if it would install the driver correctly.

most likely hardware since its not detected in the bios.
