Dell 14z 5423 wont post/boot

Hi, 2 year old dell 14z 5423, when powered on I get hdd lit solid, then 2 blinks, then we get dell splash screen and the progress bar doesn't progress. If I tap f2 or f12 and power on, those options are highlighted but cannot be selected.
I took it apart down to hdd and battery accessed. All look connected properly.

From the dell forum it looks like a Common problem and I've tried it all. Holding down fn when powering up does nothing.

I pulled the hdd and ssd and can now post. Windows restore and windows repair both fail. I guess a fresh install of windows is required. I'll contact dell tomorrow and get the windows 7 install discs

Contacted dell and they're "doing me a favor" and providing the windows 7 install disc. I should have it on monday. i'll do a clean install on the HDD. I don't care about fast boot times, so i don't think i'll be installing the OS on the SSD.
