DELL 1525 INSPIRON START-UP/UPDATING PROBS

Hello,
I have a dell 1525 laptop and upon start up, its telling me that its updating 1 of 1..but its taking ages?? any help appreciated. I left it running for about 1 and half hours and still the same.?? Im running windows vista home edition. many thanks for any help.

Presumable updating Windows Service Pack. You can select to do that manually by going Control Panel, System, Automatic Updating.
