Dell harddrive password removal

Getting divorced, husband password protected the dell laptop computer when he left. I ask him for password and hes says, Good Luck. Can I by pass this password so me and the kids can use the laptop again? When it boots up it then asks for hard drive password.

Sorry for your misfortune with your marriage.

I would recommend replacing the hard drive and restoring from your restore disks. This should bring you back to "like-new" condition.

You should be able to buy a replacement hard drive from ebay or any number of sources. Any brand or size should work, you just need to make sure that the interface is right, either IDE or SATA.
