dell inspiron 1525 repeated inverter failure

black screen. screen images seen in bright light. computer functions with external screen. Dell diagnostics say inverter problem. Repaired by qualified Mediatech dell repair in israel. Worked fine two weeks. inverter replaced. worked fine two weeks. Now works with external screen. what could be causing repeated inverter failure. Help Yehuda

How should they check this? what should they change?
An additional fact. After the first repair and before the failure, I turned off the computer. the screen remaoned white, wouldn't turn off. Thought I would save the battery from being drained. rrmoved battery. the next time I tried to start the computer, I got black screen and inverter failure as the symptom.

In its infancy , the computer once had the white screen porblem, which cured itself

The white screen sounds like a faulty panel, rather than a faulty inverter. To check for proper voltages, you would need a multimeter/volt-ohm meter or the like, but there's not much that can be done if the system board is malfunctioning in voltage regulation.

Prostar: Thank you for responding. Contacted Dell support for Israel. The support person, located in greece ,suggested changing both the inverter and the motherboard. Would that be in line with your concern about providing proper voltages. This sounds like an expensive solution , which may indicate "get a new laptop". Yehuda

The board may be expensive. The inverter is usually cheap, but cost may vary by location. The best approach would be (for the person servicing) to replace the inverter, then test. If problem persists, replace board and reconnect the used inverter, then test. This will narrow down the problem.

It's possible you simply had a stroke of bad luck with inverters, and the main board is intact and functioning. If they replace both, that will likely fix the problem wherever it lies, but then I'm guessing you will be paying for both parts...
