The dc input connector (small circuit board) has been replaced and laptop runs fine with ac charger connected.but will not charge battery. battery level (charging status) show battery not detected. battery charging light blinking white once or twice then orange ( 3 times), white 4 times. then no light illuminated. charger is a universal charger 90 watt. it's specs match those of the original dell charger. what could be wrong?

Solution
Hi
I would borrow a genuine Dell psu / charger and see what happens
A 60 W or 90 W would probably work

If not you need a laptop specialist or even Dell support to see if flashing lights are a recognised fault code .

I had a Dell laptop which would not charge the battery with a non genuine charger
Dell bios can detect the model and if a 60W or 90W Dell psu
The 90W version was required if a docking station was used

did the battery charger previously work with this laptop ?
Battery's eventually die
