Solved! Dell laptop problems

Hello,
I turned my Dell laptop off, put it in my case and did not power it up for a week. Now I can't get it to boot in any mode whatsoever. The best I can get is a black screen with words "safe mode" in all 4 corners. I suspect I need to reinstall Windows but my PC is also a Dell and I don't have the CD. Windows was pre-installed. Do I have any options? Please help!

Do you have Windows XP? You can perform a repair install with a torrented OEM XP CD. I believe you can perform the same function with Vista and 7, just with DVDs instead.

Yes, I have XP. I am going to try this today. Thanks for the suggestion.
